Corrupt Gospel

by Nkop Mmekeme

A man's character is a direct reflection of what goes on in his inside. Our behavior at every moment is such that passes a message, ranging from our looks, gestures, actions and reactions. It is pertinent to note that every one of the aforementioned takes its root from the mind, based on the inputs made to it at any moment. The mind unconsciously, and most times without our permission (especially when we don't take note) processes practically anything that comes to it. The result is seen in our behaviour.

As we carry out our daily endeavours, we should be conscious of the message we send to the minds of people, whether it is good or bad. The impact of such messages, is traceable to the influences on our hearts in form of inputs.

Every child of God carries a message and that message is the gospel of Christ. This gospel is beyond the one we preach or profess, it boils down to the character we possess. Our character preaches louder than the words we speak. Apostle Paul in one of his letters describes Christians as LIVING EPISTLES not written on tablets of stones, but on fleshy tablets (human hearts). This goes further to suggest that our lives as Christians should leave a positive impression on the hearts of people around us. Little wonder the Bible goes on to elucidate the fact that "we are the aroma of Christ: to those who are saved we are the smell of sweet perfume and those who are perishing, the sound of judgement."

Let's quickly remind ourselves that Christianity is not just another religion, but a LIFE IN GOD". Our lives is meant to be a sermon. What kind of message do you preach on daily basis is a rhetorical question we should ask ourselves. We have received the mind of Christ as we have come to understand, but the LIFE OF GOD doesn't seen to be absolutely reflected in us, because our gospel has been corrupted. Our environment today is polluted with a lot of negativity, and the influence of these negativity has gone a long way into corrupting our gospel.

Now, I seem to grasp the reason why scriptures say "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump". It is rather unfortunate that a child of God is trying to keep himself holy and at the end of the day, the things he sees on the public TV for examples, sows some form of negative influence on such lives, and in the long run corrupting the gospel we preach by our lifestyles. These influences comes in different very subtitle forms, ranging from music, pornography on the internet, wrong company and a whole lot. The effect is that it corrupts our heart with sinful thoughts and chokes Christ out of our minds, corrupting the eventual output of our hearts in form of our behavior, which must definitely be nothing to write hone about.

When the bible talks about "sleep", it is not physical, it has to do with the mind, it's about loosing consciousness of the influences that make inputs to your thought-life. These influences will either improve your gospel, or corrupt it in the long run. BE CAREFUL, guard your heart with all diligence, that your gospel be NOT CORRUPTED.
