Stay Lighted

by Nkop Mmekeme

It is practically impossible for light to come on, except there is a source of ignition. The light source and the substrate upon which it acts exist as different entities, until they are bought together in some form. Except an electric bulb is excited with electricity, it doesn't glow.

We all existed at one point in our lives as dark entities until God showed us mercy by sending his son (1.Peter.2:9) to rescue us from darkness into light. God's desire is that we become carriers of light. He is the light and we are the substrates upon which the light is ignited; as our key scripture highlights, His intention is that He may be able to affect the world which has become dark and perverse. This He will perform through His ignition in our spirits. God's heartbeat is that we may be able to fulfill His divine mandate, which is reconciling the world to Himself.

He personally cannot do this, that is why He has given us His mandate in our various spheres of life (2.Corinthians.5:17-19). He does not expect us to be slack concerning this task of reconciling the world. He expects the world to be attracted to His light in us and eventually come to Him (Matthew.5:13-18).

Wherever we go, we must live in the consciousness that we are lighted to light the world and expell darkness, bringing men into the knowledge of God. It is our duty to keep a constant connection to our source of lighting which is the only way to remain lighted. Just like a disconnected electric bulb ceases to glow, so does a disconnected Christian cease to lighted. It were better not be a Christian, than to be a disconnected Christian. Get connected! Get lighted! And fulfill God's divine mandate by letting God light your candle(your spirit) on daily basis, with His word in the place of devotion to Him. This will guide you on how to live your life to fulfill God's eternal purpose.
